Postscript
Paul Raymond Poulin died January 24th, 2018, approximately one week prior to his 99th birthday.
He retired a full Colonel of the United States Army (Signal Corps) and moved to Sacramento, California with his wife, sons and daughters.
After working awhile longer for Sacramento County, he decided he preferred to golf.
His obituary can be found in the Sacramento Bee here: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/sacbee/obituary.aspx?pid=188124618.
Col Poulin is buried in the Veterans Administration Cemetery in Dixon, California.
The reader might believe that this narrative is the full story of the man, but it is not. He wrote a second book concerning his time in war zones (Post WWII and Korea), his compatriot soldiers and the travails of raising a family through multiple overseas tours. It is titled "A Career Among Friends in Far Away Places".
Regarding Paul Poulin we think these words apply:
Gracious, Patient, Optimistic, Humorous, Devoted and Tolerant. He loved to create comic verse filled with wit and bad puns.
He was a clever and urbane man who was generous with his time to friends and family. The quality and duration of his service is a testament to his character. All who knew him will miss him greatly.
